Our Waurn Ponds campus is home to an engineering workshop specialising in the development of prototype instruments and machines for a variety of purposes.
We're available for client consultations and demonstrations of our workshop capabilities.
Our team has capability in:
- Fine toolmaking
- Machining
- Precision finishing of products
- Hardening and grinding.
Our mechanical design technicians prepare 3D drawing and computer assisted manufacturing (CAD) designs for the Computer Numeric Control (CNC) mill.
Our experienced teams of mechanical tradespeople have backgrounds in toolmaking, textiles and manufacturing, with expertise in toolmaking, fine machining, instrument and machinery design and development, and machinery maintenance in manufacturing and the textile industry.
We have developed a rapid prototyping system of practice for designing instruments and machinery, from consultation drawing on the expertise across our group, through design and prototype, greatly speeding up the production of instrumentation.
Some of our recent prototypes and clients include:
About the Hartford Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Mill
Our experienced and skilled mechanical design technicians use Solidworks - a solid modeling CAD package - to model the various parts prior to manufacturing. These modeled parts are then translated into CNC code using a CAM package called SolidCAM.
