Located across Australia's major climatic zones

Our research farms and trials are critical to enable us to test research concepts in a real-world context, to deliver science-based solutions for livestock, crop and aquaculture industries.

The farms

Our facilities are located in some of Australia's most iconic agricultural regions. Spanning tropical and temperate climatic zones, our research stations reflect farming systems in Australian conditions.

Boorowa

BARS is a state-of-the-art agricultural research facility near the town of Boorowa in southern New South Wales.

Chiswick

Our Chiswick Research Station near Armidale in NSW undertakes research on solutions for the sheep, cattle and poultry industries.

Forest Hill

Forest Hill Research Station (FHRS) in Queensland is our newest farm, offering state-of-the-art research for dry land and irrigated cropping or pasture research for temperate and tropical agriculture.

Irymple

Our agricultural research station at Irymple, near Mildura in Victoria, specialises in citrus and grapevine research.

Lansdown

Our Lansdown Research Station in north Queensland supports a team of researchers using novel technologies to deliver science-based solutions for the tropical beef industry.

Aquaculture

Bribie Island Research Centre

Our Bribie Island Research Centre, North of Brisbane at Woorim on Bribe Island, is a hub for aquaculture research. Our facilities can house a range of species, tiger prawns, abalone, crayfish, oysters, barramundi, Atlantic salmon, tilapia and kingfish. Tank, pond and raceway systems are available for temperate, tropical, freshwater and marine species. Breeding research is undertaken for tropical and temperate finfish and crustaceans which includes all aspects of the life cycle from reproduction to physiology, nutrition and disease research. Nutrition research is supported by an on-site feed extrusion facility with the capacity to produce small to medium batches of manufactured feed for a wide range of species.
