CSIRO is bound by the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act), including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The APPs govern the way the CSIRO handles personal information. This includes how we collect, store, use, disclose, quality assure and secure personal information.
CSIRO is collecting your personal information, including your name, personal contact details and company details. CSIRO may also collect your sensitive information including health information, racial and ethnic origin and practices and religious beliefs. CSIRO collects this information for the purposes of administering and facilitating your participation in the WA Food Industry Education
Collaboration Program and associated scientific research, including monitoring and evaluating the program and training and development. In the event that CSIRO transferred the delivery of the WA Food Industry Education Collaboration Program to a third party, your information may be disclosed to such third party for the purposes outlined above.
As far as possible, the provision of sensitive information by you is optional, and you will not be required to provide any personal information that you are uncomfortable providing, unless it is reasonably required by CSIRO to enable your participation in this program. If you do not provide personal information that is reasonably required of you, you may be ineligible to participate in this program; if this occurs, it will not affect your ongoing relationship with CSIRO in any way.
If you are placed with an industry partner, it will be necessary for CSIRO to share your personal information with that partner. As far as possible, this will not include your sensitive, or demographic, information. CSIRO has taken reasonable steps to ensure its industry partners are contractually obliged to comply with the Privacy Act.
CSIRO does not intend to otherwise disclose your personal information overseas or to third parties unless required or authorised by law. However, CSIRO has little effective control over how industry partners may use your information, and you should be aware that if your personal information is disclosed overseas, it may not be subject to the requirements and protections of the Privacy Act.
The CSIRO Privacy Policy available at CSIRO and the Australian Privacy Principles - Privacy Policy outlines how your personal information will be handled, including details about how you can seek access or correction of the personal information we hold about you and how you can complain about a breach of the APPs and how CSIRO will deal with the complaint. If you require further information on how your personal information will be handled, please contact privacy@csiro.au.
