What is the WA Food Industry Education Collaboration Program?

Asian woman teaching a coworker while in a food and beverage environmentThe Western Australia (WA) Food Industry Education Collaboration Program provides high-quality internships and workplace skills to help businesses solve technical challenges and support tertiary students transitioning into STEM jobs after graduation.

The program also aims to build and strengthen connections between industry and tertiary education institutions and provide support to businesses throughout WA, particularly in regional and remote areas.

$2,500 is payable to industry partners on completion of the student placement, with additional funding available to support two student travel trips for regionally based businesses.

Who is eligible for the program?

Business criteria

This program is open to businesses:

  • Operating within the WA food and/or beverage sector.
  • With projects or activities that could benefit from the skills of a STEM student.
  • Located anywhere within Western Australia, regional based enterprises are encouraged to apply.

Student criteria

WA undergraduates and postgraduates or equivalent University or TAFE/VET STEM students, including international students (subject to visa work restrictions), are eligible to apply for the program placements.

How to apply

Applications for industry partners/employers and students will be accepted from early October. Register your details by completing the registration of interest forms below. We will contact you once applications open.
