With our 40-year history of delivering effective, evidence-based STEM education programs, our impact is amplified and enhanced through our partnerships with industry, who help build and expand our education programs and initiatives.

Industry partnerships enable us to accelerate STEM pathways for young Australians, especially for traditionally underrepresented groups, including young women, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and rural and remote communities.

Our impact

In collaboration with our industry partners and stakeholders, we bring real-world, curriculum-aligned STEM education to over 200,000 students every year.

Our program evaluations demonstrate that our approach to engaging students with STEM works: 75% of students involved in CSIRO programs report a heightened interest in STEM subjects, and participants in CSIRO programs are 30% more likely to pursue STEM careers compared to non-participants.

  • Teacher Support: more than 5,500 teachers received professional development and resources in each year. 1
  • Student Engagement: students who responded to a survey on their participation in the STEM Community Partnerships Program had self-reported increases in confidence, knowledge of STEM education, and transferable skills. 2
  • Career Pathways: 83 per cent of student interns in the Generation STEM Links program were offered ongoing employment in 2023.3

As a household name, CSIRO programs have a national reach and create large-scale impact. Our STEM Professionals in Schools program is one of the largest and longest-serving volunteer programs supporting STEM education in Australia. It is estimated to have reached more than 570,000 students, and is our most recognisable community outreach program.4

We use a scientific approach - the same framework used by CSIRO scientists - to measure and evaluate our impact. This ensures that our programs are constantly evolving and improving, and that we continue adding to the evidence base for best practice in STEM education. It also helps us report back on evidence-based program outcomes and return on investment to our partners and stakeholders.

We offer partners the opportunity to have a national or targeted reach, align with the most trusted government services brand in Australia, and leverage our established relationships with schools.

Your staff can connect directly with students to create authentic STEM education experiences. These can range from site visits to internships for school or undergraduate students. You can contribute your expertise and resources to develop impactful initiatives. Your networks and connections can help boost program reach to underrepresented groups to increase STEM diversity. 

We are open to co-creating bespoke opportunities for impact. If you have specific audiences, locations or outcomes in mind, we can look at options to co-design a tailored education experience.
