About the placement
This internship is with Particular Engineering, a small family business located on the Central Coast and facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program. Particular Engineering specialise in creating engineering solutions to reduce particulate matter in the air, both visible and invisible. They work closely with the mining industry to develop dust suppression solutions for underground and above-ground coal extraction.
As an intern at Particular Engineering, you will work on bespoke air filtration projects, gaining hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, and hydraulic systems analysis. You will be primarily working in the office, collaborating closely with the Chief Engineer. You will assist with the design of scrubbers, long walls, and other custom solutions, working predominantly with CAD to ensure the designs integrate seamlessly with client machinery. Your tasks will also include drafting, mechanical engineering calculations, fluid dynamics modelling, and hydraulic system computations. Through this placement, you will gain valuable experience in the design and application of air filtration solutions for the mining sector.
Work arrangements
