About the placement
This internship is with SAPHI and is facilitated by the CSIRO's Generation STEM Links program.
This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the development of Shellshock, an AI-based in-vehicle monitoring system and the flagship product of SAPHI. Students will gain valuable experience in product assembly, optimisation, and process improvement as the company advances towards automating its manufacturing processes.
This role is ideal for STEM students interested in hands on work, offering practical experience in electronics, hardware, AI, and systems engineering. Working closely with a supportive team, students will actively contribute to shaping an innovative, real-world AI product while honing their problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Work arrangements
- Start date: Flexible (ideally Jan 2025)
- Working arrangement: Part time for 200 hours on a Casual fixed term contract, with the possibility for further employment for the right candidate
- Remuneration: $35/hour plus super on a temporary contract with SAPHI
- Location: Mayfield West, 2304
- Number of Positions: 2
Desired capabilities
- Ideally studying Engineering or other related discipline.
- Interest in electronics and hardware assembly, hands on experience is a plus.
- Problem solving and process improvement - ability to tackle projects logically and identify and share opportunities for improvements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience or interest in machine learning and AI is preferred but not mandatory.
Requirements
- Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate or TAFE qualification.
