Witt Consulting clients come from sectors such as Renewable Energy, Health, Rail, Road, Defence, Water, and more. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to work with a respected firm and gain hands-on experience in civil, structural, and/or geotechnical engineering projects.

As an intern, you will support senior engineers in both long- and short-term infrastructure projects. You'll use your technical skills to assist with every phase of the project life cycle, from initiation and planning to execution, delivery and monitoring. This is a valuable chance to develop your expertise and be part of impactful projects.

Work arrangements

  • Working dates: End of April- May 2025
  • Working arrangement: Full Time or Part time for 200 hours on a fixed term contract with the possibility of extension for the right candidate
  • Remuneration: $38.86/hour + Super on a casual contract with Witt Consulting PTY LTD
  • Location: Chippendale, NSW. Desired capabilities Studying Structural, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Strong technical aptitude in structural, civil, and/or geotechnical engineering practices and principles
  • Advanced understanding of engineering mathematics (calculus, differential equations) and physics to solve real-world problems related to forces, materials, and energy
  • Ideally proficiency in industry-standard software – AutoCAD, Revit and MATLAB, however, this can be learnt on the job
  • A White Card is advantageous but not required prior to this internship. Witt Consulting is happy to cover the cost of White Card training; however, the time spent on training is not compensated by the company.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project goals
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards, specifically AS5100 Infrastructure Bridge code

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
  • Following the first interview, the candidate will be required to complete a one-hour, closed-book technical quiz, consisting of four questions. The aim of the quiz is to assess the candidate's knowledge in solving statically determinate frames and beams (including the determination of support reactions, bending moment diagrams (BMD), axial force diagrams (AFD), and shear force diagrams (SFD)), as well as their understanding of hydrostatic pressure and unit conversions.
