About the placement
This internship is with Bale Defence Engineering Systems and is facilitated by the CSIRO's Generation STEM Links program.
Working with the engineering team at Bale Defence Engineering Systems, your role will involve assisting in designing and developing manufacturing processes for new product introductions, creating and updating CAD models and drawings, and solving problems using analytical and logical approaches.
You will assist with developing innovative solutions to engineering challenges and ensure thorough due diligence during the detailed design phase to fully satisfy project requirements. Additionally, you will develop and execute test criteria and methods to generate evidence of compliance with functional and non-functional performance criteria, leading to customer acceptance and production release.
In addition, you'll prepare written reports and presentations to communicate information effectively, ensuring accurate decision-making and documentation.
Work arrangements
- Start date: 06 January 2025
- Working arrangement: Full Time for 400 hours on a fixed term contract
- Remuneration: $25/hour on a temporary contract with Bale Defence Engineering Systems
- Location: Port Macquarie, NSW. Accommodation options available.
Desired capabilities
- Studying either Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
- Proficiency of CAD design and drawing creation is essential
- Ability to write detailed reports and experience presenting practical presentations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate and translate information to a range of audiences
- Critical and innovative thinker, looking outside the box to analyse and solve problems
Requirements
- Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be studying an undergraduate qualification.
