About the placement

This internship is with Cordel and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

In this internship you will work to support the engineering and production teams at Cordel with hands on tasks, translating the skills you learn in university into the workplace environment. You will assist in quality assurance processing and planning, documentation as well as assisting in the manufacturing and assembly processes.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: Flexible (Early Dec- Jan)
  • Working arrangement: Casual with the possibility of flexible hours based on business and students’ requirements
  • Remuneration: $35/hour plus super on a Casual Contract with Cordel
  • Location: Newcastle West (onsite)
  • Number of positions: 1

Desired capabilities

  • Currently studying an undergraduate Engineering degree (Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, etc.)
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and tools.
  • Demonstrated strong time management skills and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to conduct general electronic testing and manufacturing (soldering, networking and PCB testing)
  • Previous hands-on experience in an assembly or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience in stock management, procurement, or a related technical role is desirable.
  • Experience with CAD tools, such as Fusion 360, is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in Schematic and PCB design tools, is desirable but not essential

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
