About the placement

This internship is with Agscent and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

In this role, you will be part of a start-up team contributing to research initiatives and to Agscent’s product development pipeline. You will support trials and research, use available data to gain insights and develop case studies. You will be involved in data analysis and reporting, and collation of trial reports to support evidence-based decision-making. There is potential to contribute towards the development of complex models or machine learning algorithms to support research and product development.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing trial reports by summarising data, findings, and conclusions
  • Translate complex research findings into concise and accessible case studies
  • Contribute to data analysis and reporting
  • Potentially contribute to the development of complex models or machine learning algorithms
  • Apply data science and statistical analysis skills to clean, manage, integrate, and analyse multiple datasets
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate research and analysis processes
  • Collaborate with researchers and scientists to ensure accurate representation of findings
  • Create visually engaging and informative graphics, charts, and tables to support case studies and reports
  • Assist with ad-hoc administrative tasks as needed

Work arrangements

  • Start date: April/May 2025
  • Working arrangement: Part time for at least 200 hours.
  • Remuneration: $25/hour on a temporary contract with Agscent.
  • Location: Remote working or potential to work onsite in Queanbeyan, NSW

Desired capabilities

  • Experience with data management (cleaning, organising, integration)
  • Experience with conducting trials and research reports
  • Experience with basic statistical analysis and data visualization
  • Experience with programming and AI
  • Good organisation skills
  • Good communication Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Familiarity with agricultural systems, particularly livestock management is preferred however not required

Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Agriculture, Environmental Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related discipline)
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
