About the initiative
Generation STEM is a 10-year initiative to build a strong and more diverse STEM pipeline in NSW. The STEM-INSIGHTS initiative forms a vital part of Generation STEM by working to understand what, how and why STEM learning and STEM education programs influence students to pursue and stay in STEM pathways and careers.
There is an opportunity to build a stronger evidence base regarding how to most efficiently and effectively attract and retain students in STEM, which is difficult due to the complexity of measuring key constructs in STEM education.
STEM-INSIGHTS aims to build the capability of the STEM education ecosystem to generate, use and share evidence, and to harvest insights directly from students on their experiences with STEM education over time, resulting in more impactful, program experiences to attract and retain students in STEM.
Managed by CSIRO, Generation STEM is made possible by the NSW Government's $25 million endowment to the Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF).
