Voyage summary
Sea trial voyage to test equipment and relocate vessel from Sydney to Hobart (home port).
The sea trials will provide an opportunity to collect underway samples that will supplement data to be collected for upcoming voyages in 2017. As such, the locations for sea trials have been chosen to coincide with areas of interest for upcoming voyages, specifically IN2017_V03, and for comparison with past surveys.
Voyage impact
Sea trials and equipment testing were successfully completed, demonstrating functionality of various equipment and capabilities. This included trawling and associated equipment such as the net drum, net monitoring equipment and deep towed camera. Sea trials are essential for maintaining and developing vessel research capability, as well as conducting research and development activities.
Three Argo floats were also deployed during the voyage, contributing to the global Argo network.
