How to complete the MNF Mental Health and Wellbeing eLearning module.
If you’ve been asked to complete this eLearning module, then you’re among the lucky few who’ve been selected to join RV Investigator for an upcoming research voyage.
It’s an exciting time, and there are a number of things you will need to be aware of before you depart. These matters are serious and can have significant consequences for your health, wellbeing and safety and that of the people around you before, during and after the voyage.
A lot of hard work, time, energy and resources have gone into the research voyage you’re about to undertake. This includes success through a competitive applications process to determine the scientific excellence and national benefit of the application. For many of these science teams, the voyage represents years of planning and a multi-million dollar investment by the CSIRO Marine National Facility.
It’s critical you understand your role in making sure you are physically and emotionally equipped to handle the challenges of the voyage.
This module has been developed to help you, and your family and friends understand what to expect, so you can make an informed decision to prepare and participate.
Please watch each video in order and note down any issues or questions you’d like to ask. Take action on the steps required and carefully consider if this voyage is right for you before signing off on the agreement.
You will also be asked to nominate a next of kin. This can be a partner, family member or close friend whose role will be to support you before, during and after your voyage. They’ll be sent a separate video as well, to make sure they understand the decision you’re making.
To complete this module:
- watch all the videos 1-5
- nominate a next of kin or family member to be your contact
- talk to your next of kin and/or family about your voyage
- sign the agreement.
