Ride the waves in an Antarctic storm, fly through the atmosphere on a data-stream and dive into the abyss to uncover the mysteries of the deep. INVESTIGATE is an immersive marine science experience designed to educate, engage and inspire.
Join us aboard Australia’s advanced ocean research vessel (RV) Investigator, without getting your feet wet!
Repurposed with purpose
INVESTIGATE has been built in a repurposed shipping container, similar to the containerised science laboratories that are used on RV Investigator. It offers visitors a unique 3D multimedia experience, with the container’s roof and walls being equipped with video screens and a state-of-the-art sound system.
Come aboard. Come explore!
INVESTIGATE offers an entertaining and informative experience for all audiences. Visitors are taken on an immersive cinematic journey above and below the waves to explore the marine environment and the research that we deliver with RV Investigator.
The presentations have been developed for a general audience and include factual information as well as highly engaging visuals for younger (and older!) audiences. Visitors can dive into topics like oceanography, marine biology and seafloor mapping.
Where can I find INVESTIGATE?
Much like RV Investigator, INVESTIGATE will travel far and wide around Australia to deliver science to power our understanding of the marine environment.
As part of the 2024 International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI), you can find INVESTIGATE at:
- Queensland University of Technology (Gardens Point Campus on Gardens Point Road, near The Cube), Brisbane (QLD), 3-24 December 2024 and 2-5 January 2025
Keep an eye out for updates as INVESTIGATE drops anchor in a city near you!
