The challenge
Preparing farmers for future climate and drought
Australia is facing a changing climate and is expected to experience more frequent and severe droughts.
Australian farmers and communities need new tools that help them plan ahead so they can sustain and strengthen the viability of their businesses for decades to come.
Our response
Information tailored to the farm, commodity and local climate
My Climate View is a free, digital information product designed to help Australian farmers inform decision-making and build their climate and drought resilience into the future.
It presents agriculturally relevant historical and future climate information in one place so farmers can explore climate trends for specific commodities at a local scale.
For example, a wheat grower can look up how the timing and intensity of seasonal rainfall in their region might change and consider whether they need to adapt their farming practices.
My Climate View currently provides climate information for 20 commodities, representing most of Australia's agricultural land and continues to be updated.
My Climate View is being developed in partnership with the Bureau of Meteorology through the Climate Services for Agriculture program. It's funded by the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund.
The results
Better prepared for a changing climate
My Climate View aims to help reduce climate impacts on Australian farmers. It is available now for anyone to use.
We engaged 2000 people working in the agriculture sector across Australia to ensure insights are relevant and useful.
My Climate View is built on the Climate Services for Agriculture platform, which uses our innovative INDRA technology.
In future, the underlying INDRA technology could be applied to other industry sectors impacted by climate change.
It's contributing to our Drought Resilience Mission's goal to reduce the impacts of drought.
