Your personal information is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). CSIRO will handle your information in accordance with this Act and the latest National Health & Medical Research Council National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research or as otherwise required by law.
Your personal information, including your name, email address, job title and mobile number, is being collected for the purposes of conducting the Regional University Industry Collaboration (RUIC) Program (the Program) and related scientific research.
CSIRO may also collect your sensitive information (as defined by the Privacy Act), including information about your ethnicity to determine whether you are an Indigenous Australian led business, for the purposes outlined above. Generally, CSIRO may only collect sensitive information about you with your consent – if you provide information about your race or ethnicity, it will be taken that you consent to this collection (noting that you are not required to provide this information; however if you do not provide it, you will not be eligible for any aspects of the program that focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enterprises).
CSIRO may collect images or video recordings of you, or audio recordings of your voice (from which sensitive information about you might be inferred) for the purposes outlined above, including media promotion of the Program. We will not use your name, image, or voice in any media promotion without first obtaining your explicit consent.
You are not required to provide any personal information that you do not wish to provide. If this occurs, it will not affect your ongoing relationship with CSIRO. However, your enterprise may not be ineligible for this program if you do not provide any personal information that CSIRO reasonably requires for this purpose.
CSIRO may disclose your personal information to third parties including, the Queensland Department of Environment, Science and Innovation, partner universities (James Cook University, University of Southern Queensland, Central Queensland University and the University of the Sunshine Coast), and the ‘Good Grants’ grant management platform. Any such disclosures will only be for the purpose of facilitating your involvement in this program.
As far as possible, CSIRO will take steps to ensure these organisations comply with the Australian Privacy Principles with regard to any personal information about you that they receive from CSIRO, however CSIRO cannot guarantee that this will occur. You should consult the respective privacy policies for these organisations and note that they may have to comply with Queensland privacy legislation.
CSIRO does not intend to disclose your personal information overseas. However, some incidental overseas disclosure may occur in the conduct of an interview or in ordinary correspondence, particularly where some participants are located overseas, or where CSIRO engages third-party products or platforms to facilitate the project.
The Program is partnering with Creative Force Ltd/Award Force Pty Ltd, specifically through the ‘Good Grants’ platform to assist with the delivery of the program. While CSIRO has taken steps to ensure that your personal information is stored in Good Grants servers based in Australia, it cannot completely remove the risk that your personal information may be transferred to servers located outside of Australia. This means your personal information may be transferred to servers located outside Australia, and your personal information may not be subject to the requirements and protections of the Australian Privacy Principles if this occurs.
By participating in the project, you consent to the transfer of your personal information to servers located outside of Australia and you acknowledge that this information may not be subject to the requirements of the Privacy Act. If you have any concerns about this, you should not participate in the project.
Results from the project will be de-identified and/or aggregated and published, presented or shared in a variety of forums and with third parties. These include presentations to collaborators, sponsors, government, corporate and industry partners to demonstrate Program outcomes and impacts.
While CSIRO will make all attempts to ensure you cannot be reidentified from the information contained within the publications, this risk can never be completely removed. It is possible that you may be able to be reidentified within the publications due to the small number of participants in the program or due to unique information known to an individual such as personal friend/acquaintance/colleague.
Your personal details including your name and organisation name will only be published with your consent.
For further information on how CSIRO handles your personal information and our access, correction and complaints process please read our privacy policy available on our website or by contacting us at privacy@csiro.au.
