11 September 2024 Statement

His Majesty King Charles III has confirmed he will visit CSIRO to learn more about bushfire research during his visit to Australia in October. We look forward to welcoming His Majesty to CSIRO during the Royal Visit, and sharing more about the impact of our research.

As Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO is helping to solve Australia’s greatest challenges. Bushfires are part of life in Australia and play an important role in Australia’s unique ecosystems. However, when they burn out of control near populated areas, they can cause significant loss of life and property. CSIRO has been conducting bushfire research for over 70-years to help protect communities and improve safety for firefighters during outbreaks.
