Using satellite tags to discover where whale sharks travel to and how deep they go.

We are conducting a world first by collecting DNA samples from the whale shark population at Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia, to determine their age, while also unlocking the secrets of where they travel to and how deep they go. This is part of our Ningaloo Outlook project, a $5.4 million, five-year project in partnership with BHP to understand more about the diverse marine ecosystem.
