Students of all ages were invited to this online session to meet Research Technician, Justine Barrett, who works on our Ending Plastic Waste mission. Justine has over 20 years' experience working in the science industry in technical, teaching and research roles.
She joined the marine debris team at CSIRO in 2017, where she established a method for detecting microplastics in deep-sea sediment. She is also the lead author of a paper publishing the first global estimate of microplastics in deep-sea sediment.
Attendees heard about what her work involves, the big challenges she is trying to solve, how she got into science and what skills and experiences helped to get her where she is today.;
