At CSIRO, we solve the greatest challenges through innovative science and technology. We do this by harnessing the incredible intellectual power and expertise of our people, collaborators and partners.
Our Science Leader program brings new capability and technology into CSIRO in areas which have been identified as strategic, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of existing and emerging fields. The program works in synergy with forward thinking initiatives such as our Future Science Platforms, fostering a culture of science excellence and helping us to develop the next generation of researchers and STEM professionals.
CSIRO Science Leaders collaborate at the intersection of disciplines with researchers across the innovation system in developing cutting edge technology platforms and translating research outcomes into impact.
The strategic priority areas for the program are determined on a regular basis by our business units by assessing future capability needs, then appraised and endorsed by CSIRO’s Science Council and Chief Scientist. Positions are advertised to identify the best and brightest early to mid-career researchers from across the globe to join CSIRO as Science Leaders.
Science Leader positions are currently open for priority areas including fish, food and humans, digital integration for bioprediction, massive data challenges in the era of the square kilometre array (SKA), digital disruption and the minerals value chain (minerals 4D) and active materials.
