ANIC is recognised both nationally and internationally as a major museum and with this recognition brings with it certain responsibilities.

One of these responsibilities is to recognise that all documentary material directly associated with the Collection and its history is as much part of the Collection as the specimens themselves.

The very long-term nature of taxonomic research requires that this material be maintained, as are the specimens, in an accessible manner so that it is readily available to future workers.
