Standards Australia and CSIRO’s Hydrogen Industry Mission have developed a new resource to help people identify the relevant standards for their hydrogen project.

“One of the challenges for the burgeoning Australian hydrogen industry is navigating regulations and standards for new builds,” said Dr Patrick Hartley, leader of CSIRO's Hydrogen Industry Mission.

“For example, when we were building our hydrogen refuelling station, an important step in the acceptance and hand over from the developer was to assure ourselves that the technology complies with relevant regulations and standards.

"Having a resource like HyStandards would have helped us to quickly identify which standards were relevant.”

Development of the tool was overseen by a steering committee comprising industry and government.

HyStandards was released in February 2024.

Standards Australia and CSIRO’s Hydrogen Industry Mission have developed a new resource to help people identify the relevant standards for their hydrogen project.

HyStandards is a highly visual, interactive tool hosted on the Hydrogen Knowledge Centre, the go-to resource for the Australian hydrogen community.

The HyStandards tool includes lists of standards for various hydrogen facilities including hydrogen production by electrolyser, road transport, pipeline transport and hydrogen refuelling stations.
