Welcome from our Executive Sponsor, Dr Marcus Zipper
Director, Manufacturing

Dr Marcus Zipper, Director Manufacturing, Executive Sponsor for the Disability Inclusion and Access Action Plan. Dr Zipper wears a blue suit, blue tie and is smiling. We're working hard to build a safe and welcoming culture where people can bring their whole selves to work. Valuing and enabling difference empowers our people, unlocking their potential to innovate and shape the future for our customers, all Australians and the world.

Disability is as broad and diverse as the workforce we are fostering. Whether our people live with a long-term, temporary or situational disability or care for someone with disability, our Plan builds a future that responds to our people's unique needs, enabling them to contribute their full potential.

Behind this Plan is a passionate Disability Working Group that I was fortunate enough to be a part of. Team, I would like to thank you all for your expertise, dedication and efforts.

I have admired your passion for fostering a more aware and inclusive culture, the courage of those who shared their lived experiences, and the way you not only enabled so many voices to be heard during the research and consultation period.  You have reflected these voices in the final, actionable and empowering version of this plan.

We know from our broader diversity and inclusion work that valuing and enabling difference empowers our people. This is our roadmap to recruit, develop, and include people living with disability and carers of people living with disability. It has clear objectives for implementation and provides opportunities for our people to engage and contribute.

Successfully seeing this plan through will support our commitment to being disability confident – an employer that provides a supportive, positive and inclusive environment for people living with disability and carers. This is only the beginning.

We should all be proud that we are building a culture of disability inclusion at CSIRO. This is within our reach, our sights, our ability to achieve, but it's up to all of us to own.

Whether you are a leader shaping our organisational culture, a manager creating opportunities for people with disability to thrive and succeed, or a supportive team member, you can positively contribute to the implementation of the Disability Inclusion and Access Action Plan 2023-2026.
