Elvis at the Dish - The brightest stars in heaven

Where: CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope ‘the Dish’ – 585 Telescope Road, Parkes (20kms north of Parkes on the Newell Highway)

What: Enjoy a fantastic evening of entertainment and food as we celebrate the start of the 2015 Parkes Elvis Festival at The Dish.

Rising Elvis tribute artist ‘Shakin’ Rick Mackaway’ will perform the King’s greatest hits in front of the world-famous CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope. For the first time the two icons of Parkes NSW will combine in celebration of the King’s 80th birthday.

Artists: Shakin' Rick Mackaway and The Wilsonics. Shakin' Rick Mackaway was the winner of the 2014 ETA (Elvis Tribute Artist) competition at the 2nd Annual Blue Mountains Elvis Festival.

  • Adult: $15
  • Child 12-17: $7.50
  • Child under 12: Free.

Transport: Western Road Liners depart Cooke Park, Welcome Street, 5:45pm for the CSIRO Parkes Observatory Visitors Centre.

David Malin Awards and Exhibition

The Central West Astronomical Society is proud to present the 2014 CWAS Astrophotography Awards judged by Dr David Malin - the "David Malin Awards".

The 2014 exhibition was launched in the Bowen Room at the CSIRO Parkes Observatory Visitors Centre on Sunday July 20th. Entry is free to the exhibition.
