Our operating model underpins the successful execution of our strategy and delivery of our goals.
CSIRO is an Australian Government corporate entity. It was constituted and operates under the provisions of the Science and Industry Research Act 1949 .
This Act sets out the functions and powers of the Organisation as well as those of CSIRO’s Minister, Board and Chief Executive. CSIRO has power to do all things necessary or convenient to be done, for or in connection with the performance of its functions.
The governance, performance and accountability of CSIRO’s operations, including the use and management of public resources are set out in the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 , related rules and guidance. CSIRO is subject to certain General Policy Orders of the Australian Government.
CSIRO maintains an appropriate system of risk oversight, and management and system of internal control. Assurances about the Organisation’s financial state of affairs, compliance and control environment are provided through a range of processes including the role of the Internal Audit, Risk, Legal, Fraud Control and Security units, system design and monitoring, compliance reporting by senior managers and the operation of the CSIRO Public Interest Disclosure Scheme. External audit is provided by the Australian National Audit Office.
