The CSIRO Centre for Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) is an 11 hectare multi-disciplinary campus situated in the Perth suburb of Floreat, Western Australia that houses approximately 300 CSIRO staff.
Research conducted at CELS addresses national research priorities related to a sustainable marine and terrestrial Australian environment, promoting and maintaining good health, the development of frontier technologies for building and transforming Australian industries and safeguarding Australia.
CELS staff provide a diverse range of skills and experience, enabling CSIRO to draw together expertise from many disciplines to address complex problems.
The seven key research areas at CELS are:
- Ecosystem Sciences
- Land and Water
- Animal, Food and Health Sciences
- Marine and Atmospheric Research
- Mathematics, Informatics & Statistics
- Plant Industry
- Australian e-Health Research Centre/CSIRO ICT Centre
There are a number of organisations co-located on site including Landgate, the Satellite Remote Sensing Services group of the WA Land Information Authority, and the Department of Agriculture and Food WA.
