Crop Biofactories: Unusual Fatty Acids

The Crop Biofactories Initiative has undertaken gene discovery for enabling enzymes and metabolic engineering of biosynthetic pathways to increase the production of industrially significant fatty acids in oilseeds. These will have a range of industrial applications.

Growing plastic

A CSIRO team is engineering plants that can produce feedstocks for manufacturing plastics, replacing petrochemicals.

Development of plant expression systems for unusual fatty acids

This power point presentation details advances in fatty acid research as part of the Crop Biofactories Initiative (CBI) and was presented at the Fifth Annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology & Bioprocessing. (21 pages)

Dr Allan Green: Deputy Chief, CSIRO Plant Industry

Dr Allan Green is Deputy Chief of CSIRO Plant Industry and his research focus is on bioengineering of oil crops.
