Scientific research increasingly involves the collection and manipulation of more data than ever before.

Managing and analysing big data is a challenge for researchers worldwide.

Our advanced ICT allows our researchers to access data, instruments and computing capability.

It also helps them collaborate with researchers from around the world.

Our eResearch program also provides tools and workflows for managing research data and extracting value from it.

Our eResearch team ensures that our data can be managed, shared, analysed, published and preserved.

Our eResearch unit supports science workflows

The demands of today's science requires the use of advanced information and communication technologies (ICT) to develop new data-handling tools.

Our eResearch unit supports the entire science workflow through infrastructure, software and systems technologies and services, including:

  • research planning – assisting researchers creating their eResearch plans and architecture
  • collaboration – facilitating interaction across the organisation and with external collaborators
  • data collection – gathering data and information throughout the course of a project
  • data management – managing data through the lifetime of a project and beyond
  • computation – providing the resources that enable scientific modelling and analysis to be carried out effectively and efficiently
  • discovery – supporting scientists in the execution of their research
  • publication – enabling scientists to manage the publication of their research outputs.
